Site Work & Dirt Work
Access cut in, culverts set, ditching and drainage run so water goes where you want it, laydown areas built, spoil moved and spread. The work nobody thinks about until the concrete truck can't get back there.
Getting equipment to the job
Half the site work we do is just making the rest of the job possible. A road in that a loaded truck can use. A turnaround at the end of it. A laydown area where material can sit without sinking. A culvert under the low spot so the drive doesn't wash out the first week.
Drainage, which is most of it
Nearly every dirt problem out here is a water problem wearing a disguise. Standing water in a yard, a driveway that gullies every storm, a shop that takes water across the slab, a field that stays too wet to work — all of it comes back to where the water goes and how fast.
Ditching, French drains, swales, culvert sets, regrading a yard so the fall runs away from the house. Fix the water and most of the rest stops happening.
Finish grade
Rough grade is where the dirt ends up. Finish grade is where it's supposed to be. We pull the site back to plan, feather the edges into existing ground so it doesn't look like a scar, and leave it ready for seed, gravel, or concrete.
Site Work across West Alabama
We run site work out of Berry in Fayette County and cover eight counties from there. Pick yours to see the towns we work in and what the ground is like.
Site Work — questions we get asked
Can you fix a yard that holds water?
Usually, yes. It's normally a grade problem — the ground falls toward the house, or there's a flat spot with nowhere for water to go. The fix is regrading, sometimes a swale or a drain line. We'll look at where the water comes from before we start moving dirt.
Do you set culverts?
Yes — sized to the ditch and the drainage above it, bedded properly, and with the ends kept open so they don't silt shut in two years.
Do you haul in gravel?
We can, or you can have it delivered and we'll place and grade it. Either way works; having it dumped on site ahead of us is often cheaper for you.
